Box Score 4 WHITING, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team went 1-3 over the weekend. The Pomeroys traveled to Calumet College of St. Joseph to play four matches against tough competition in northern Indiana.
The Pomeroys faced Lincoln Christian and Roosevelt on day one of the tournament, falling 3-1 (10-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-27) to LCU and 3-1 (18-25, 20-25, 25-18, 11-25) to Roosevelt. On day two, the Pomeroys started off by defeating William Penn, 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22), and then followed that match with a loss to Governors State, 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 22-25). The Pomeroys are now 9-22 overall after this past weekend.
Sophomore McKenzi Kumpf led the Pomeroys for the weekend with 43 kills across the four matches. Junior Madeline Howes led the team in digs with 60, while sophomore Mary Alvanos recorded a team-high 90 assists. Sophomore Monica Mack recorded a team-high nine total blocks.
The Pomeroys will be back in action tonight when they host Earlham in the home season finale at 7 p.m. The Pomeroys will then close out the season on the road Wednesday at Blackburn.
