Box Score

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team fell to Oakland City on Saturday at homecoming for the Pomeroys. The Pomeroys fell, 6-3, in what was a hard fought match by SMWC until the end.

The Pomeroys fell behind early, 2-0, after an OCU goal in the first minute and an own goal in the 23rd minute. Freshman Ashley Jezik got the Pomeroys on the board with a goal in the 31st minute, and then OCU added one more goal to go into halftime up 3-1 on the Pomeroys. OCU added another goal in the 66th minute before the Pomeroys would tally back-to-back goals by senior Cami Navarra in the 75th minute and Jezik in the 79th minute, assisted by Jordan Bray.

OCU notched their fifth goal in the 80th minute to take a 5-3 lead. Jezik then broke away from the defense in the 82nd minute for what looked like was going to be a goal to get SMWC back into the match, but it deflected off of the far post. OCU then added an insurance goal in the 89th minute, as the Pomeroys fell to 1-9 on the year.

The Pomeroys will be back in action on October 5 when they host Cincinnati Clermont at 4 p.m.
