CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team won its first match of the 2015 season on Saturday at Cincinnati Clermont. It became the new program's first victory, as the Pomeroys swept the cougars 3-0: 25-20, 25-15 and 25-12.

Junior Brylie Riddell led the Pomeroys with 11 kills, while fellow junior Jessica Coombs and freshman Autum Loughead each recorded four kills. Coombs recorded five service aces, freshman Gabriella Slagle recorded six block assists, freshman Monica Mack recorded five block assists and one solo block, and freshman setter Mary Alvanos recorded 21 assists. Freshman McKenzi Kumpf led the Pomeroys in digs with nine, while Riddell recorded seven digs.

The Pomeroys will now look to carry their momentum into this week as they host Blackburn in their home opener on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. The match will feature LIVE stats and video on SMWCPOMEROYS.com.
