Box Score SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team fell at home on Saturday, 79-49, to Brescia University. The Pomeroys move to 5-4 with the loss and gear up for seven straight road games.
Shooting woes hurt the Pomeroys on Saturday with just freshman Callan Taylor recording double figures with 11 points. Junior Na-Shaunda Rayford was second on the team in scoring with eight points. Three Pomeroys recorded seven rebounds as the Pomeroys won the rebounding battle, 55-49. Sophomore Tara Parmer, freshman Lily Freese and senior Sierra Lopez all recorded seven boards.
The first half was tight with Brescia taking a 24-21 lead after the first and a 40-32 lead into the break. The second half hurt SMWC, as the Pomeroys scored 15 points in the third and just two in the fourth. SMWC shot eight percent (3-of-37) from three-point range and 26 percent (21-of-81) from the field. In comparison, the Bearcats shot 13 percent (2-of-16) and 47 percent (35-of-75).
The Pomeroys will be back in action on December 15 when they head to Spalding for a 6 p.m. tip.
