Box Score SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Women's basketball team fell on Tuesday night to Greenville in Hamilton Arena at the Knoerle Center, 101-76. The Pomeroys are now 1-3 on the year.
The Pomeroys had four players score in double figures with junior JaBreena Gardner leading the way with 17 points. Seniors Grace Ziegler and Sierra Lopez each recorded 12 points, while freshman Callan Taylor added 10 points. Lopez, along with freshman Kaley Sosnowski led SMWC in rebounds with five each. Sophomore Tara Parmer dished out a game-high six assists and notched three steals.
The Pomeroys jumped out to an early 15-4 lead to start the game. The Panthers then went on a 13-0 run to take a 17-15 lead. SMWC would regain its composure and end the first quarter ahead of GC, 25-21.
The second quarter belonged to GC, as they took the lead with 8:10 to play. SMWC went into the break trailing 47-32. The third and fourth quarters saw GC continue to extend their lead, ultimately taking the 101-76 victory.
"Obviously when you lose, things aren't going your way," stated head coach Deanna Bradley following Tuesday's game. "I was actually pretty pleased with our defense. It's just offensively we are struggling terribly, but we are working hard defensively which was the focus this week in practice."
The Pomeroys will be back in action this weekend as they head to Southern State to play Clark State on Friday and Southern State on Saturday.
