Robert Morris-Springfield Downs Pomeroys, 90-66

Box Score

The Pomeroy basketball team's attempt to put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season fell short in their defeat to Robert Morris-Springfield, 90-66, on Saturday afternoon.

SMWC kept the game close in the first half, trailing by only five at the break (37-42). Unfortunately, the story of the season thus far has been keeping games close in the second half and rebounding. Robert Morris was able to shoot 50% from the field and outscored SMWC by 19 in the second half. The Eagles out-rebounded the Pomeroys by 21 for the game, scoring 12 more points in the paint. With this victory, Robert Morris picked up their third win of the season.

Alaura McKemie and Brittney Shaner led the Pomeroys with 15 points. Mikalya Metheny and Brandi McDaniel also scored in double figures, finishing the game with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Cassandra Baker of Robert Morris led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 9 of 19 from the field. Jessica Taylor also reached double figures for the Eagles, scoring 12 points.

The Pomeroys' record drops to 1-7 on the season. They will return to action this weekend when they participate in a tournament hosted by Greenville College, located in Greenville, Ill.
