Lane Sluder has been chosen as Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's flag football head coach for a program that will take the field in the 2027-28 season.
Sluder will lead recruiting efforts for the program during the 2026-27 academic year.Â
As a 4-year offensive line starter for the sprint football championship team from 2022-25, Sluder graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from SMWC in 2026. Sluder earned the SMWC Pomeroy Athletic Leadership Award in 2025-26 and is pursuing a Master of Sport Leadership degree at SMWC.
In addition to his football playing experience, Sluder has coached flag football at the youth level for five years with the Sullivan Youth Flag Football league. His efforts resulted in appearances at nationally competitive tournaments in Westfield, Indiana; Hoover, Alabama; and Atlanta, Georgia while building Sullivan teams into some of the top programs in Indiana.
Sluder will also begin a full-time teaching career in the Vigo County School Corporation this fall.
