Nutrition for Optimal Performance

An athlete's diet choices have an affect on their performance. Our partner, Bon Appetit, wants to ensure student-athletes have the knowledge and access to fuel their bodies for optimal performance on the field and off.

Bon Appetit will provide student-athletes with resources in the cafe and online that reinforce the concepts of eating for performance including: healthy eating, the impact of macronutrients on performance, proper hydration and dietary shifts to meet performance needs.

Our dining selection marries knowledge with actions to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Bon Appetit strives to provide a 1/3 healthy, 1/3 moderately healthy, 1/3 indulgent menu mix. Healthy meals are centered around plants (fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes) paired with a reasonable portion of lean protein (vegetarian sources of protein, fish, poultry, or lean cuts of meat), flavored with moderate amounts of plant-based fats (olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds).

In order to better support student athletes, Bon Appetit also has a team of registered dietitians available to assist in campus-specific needs, be it special programs, assistance with planning training table meals, or speaking with athletic groups on campus.
