Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women's golf put five players in the top 10 of the IU East Fall Invitational, earning them a strong second-place finish.
Senior
Bailey Thompson shot a second-round score Saturday of 83, following up her tournament-best score of 76 on Friday to take third place, just three strokes behind IU East's Brooklyn Cromwell.
Freshman
Renae Jaeger debuted as a collegiate player with identical rounds of 81 to take sixth place with a 162. Sophomore
Brooklee Bussing and
Sophie Boyll were one shot behind Jaeger with 163 and
Erin Williams and
Claire Thompson shot 164.
Bailey Thompson's score was included in SMWC's 'B' squad after she just missed the top five in team qualifying so her score helped the SMWC B squad take third place.
The Pomeroys' 'A' team took second with a two-day total of 648, just 11 shots behind IU East's 637.
"Our golf program took a huge leap forward this weekend," coach
Kyle Miller said. "There is so much talent on both teams. We proved that we can play with anyone."
